The Open Academy Step by Step, together with its partners Are You Syrious and the Travno Cultural Centre, has opened its Play Centre.
The Travno Play Centre and Toy Library, established in 2024 based on the TOY (Together Old and Young) approach, is founded on the idea that intergenerational and intercultural environments provide a wealth of opportunities and resources for learning, both for children and adults, particularly in divided communities and in settings where children do not have access to formal support systems.
As a temporary support measure for children at risk of social exclusion, the Centres contribute to integration processes within the community, provide support to families in situations where services are scarce and integration policies are limited, and advocate for change towards full equality.
We invite all families and children up to the age of 10 from refugee backgrounds, as well as other families and children living in the City of Zagreb, to join us for play and an intercultural programme led by our experienced professionals and engaging guest speakers from the fields of culture, arts and other sectors.
The Play Centre is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Travno Cultural Centre.
