The Joint Research Centre (JRC) / Zajednički istraživački centar služba je Europske komisije za znanost i znanje, koja okuplja znanstvenike kako bi provodili istraživanja u svrhu osiguravanja neovisnih znanstvenih savjeta i podrške politici Europske unije. U suradnji s Europskim parlamentom i Odborom regija promiče kulturu stvaranja politike utemeljene na dokazima, na razini Europske unije te na regionalnoj/lokalnoj razini.
Budući da europske regije i gradovi imaju ključnu ulogu u kreiranju politika, 2016. godine pokrenuta je inicijativa „Znanost susreće regije“. Cilj ove inicijative bio je izgraditi bliže veze između znanstvenika i kreatora politika Europske unije. Inicijativa je bila uspješna te je Europski parlament odlučio 2018. godine financirati pilot projekt Znanost susreće parlamente/Znanost susreće regije“.
Ciljevi pilot projekta „Znanost susreće parlamente/Znanost susreće regije“ Europskog parlamenta su približiti znanstvenike i kreatore politika, poticati međusobno razumijevanje, raspravljati o relevantnim pitanjima politika koristeći znanstvene dokaze, približiti znanost građanima te povećati povjerenje ljudi u znanost pokazujući ključne doprinose znanosti u društvu.
Zajednički istraživački centar/Joint Research Centre, službe Europske unije za znanost i znanje i Europskog parlamenta, u okviru pilot projekta „Znanost susreće parlamente/Znanost susreće regije“, prihvatio je financiranje jednodnevnog događaja/konferencije koju će organizirati Grad Zagreb, Gradski ured za socijalnu zaštitu i osobe s invaliditetom, povodom obilježavanja Međunarodnog dana borbe protiv siromaštva i socijalne isključenosti.
Konferencija „Znanost susreće regije“ održat će se 17. listopada 2019. u Gastro Globusu, Avenija Dubrovnik 15, s početkom u 09,00 sati
Konferencija će biti usmjerena na socijalnu politiku Grada Zagreba i postavljene strateške ciljeve Socijalnog plana Grada Zagreba 2014. – 2020. čime će se iskazati važnost suradnje Grada Zagreba i akademske zajednice kao i šire javnosti u cilju pronalaženja novih rješenja i inovacija u provođenju i kreiranju socijalne politike na lokalnoj razini i to na znanstveno utemeljenim dokazima.
U prvom dijelu Konferencije predstavit će se dosadašnji proces socijalnog planiranja, ostvareni rezultati, mogući izazovi u stvaranju socijalnog plana za naredno razdoblje kao i sve važnost suradnje Grada Zagreba, akademske zajednice, istraživačkih instituta kao i šire javnosti u cilju pronalaženja novih rješenja i inovacija u provođenju i kreiranju socijalne politike.
U drugom dijelu konferencije provest će se interaktivna rasprava u tri grupe koje će pokušati odgovoriti na nekoliko ključnih pitanja, a koja će poslužiti kao dobar temelj za proširenje vizije socijalnog planiranja Grada Zagreba za naredno provedbeno razdoblje.
Na Konferenciji se očekuje sudjelovanje predstavnika upravnih tijela Grada Zagreba, zastupnika Gradske skupštine Grada Zagreba, predstavnika akademske zajednice, ustanova, organizacija civilnog društva i drugih nositelja Socijalne politike Grada Zagreba.
Konferenciju će podržati i predstavnici Zajedničkog istraživačkog centra/Joint Research Centre iz Bruxellesa.
Konferencije će biti snimana te će biti omogućen izravan prijenos događanja putem društvenih mreža unutar i izvan Republike Hrvatske.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a service of the European Commission for Science and Knowledge, which brings together scientists to conduct research to provide independent scientific advice and support for EU policy. In cooperation with the European Parliament and the Committee of the Regions, it promotes a culture of evidence-based policymaking at EU and regional / local level.
As European regions and cities play a key role in policy-making, in 2016, the "Science meets the regions" initiative was launched. The aim of this initiative was to build closer links between scientists and policymakers of the European Union. The initiative was successful, and the European Parliament decided in 2018 to fund the pilot project Science Meets Parliaments / Science Meets Regions.
The pilot project "Science meets parliaments / Science meets regions" of the European Parliament aims at bringing scientists and policy makers closer, encourage mutual understanding, discuss relevant policy issues using scientific evidence, bring science closer to citizens, and increase people's confidence in science by demonstrating key contributions to science in society.
Within the pilot project Science meets parliaments / Science meets regions, the Joint Research Center, a service of the European Commission for Science and Knowledge and the European Parliament, has accepted funding for a one-day event / conference organized by the City of Zagreb, City Office for Social Affairs protection and persons with disabilities, to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and Social Exclusion.
The conference "Science meets the regions" will be held on October 17, 2019 at Gastro Globus, Dubrovnik Avenue 15, starting at 09.00.
The conference will be directed at the City of Zagreb social policy and the set Strategic goals of the City of Zagreb Social Plan, which will show the importance of cooperation between the City of Zagreb and the academic community as well as the general public in order to find new solutions and innovations in implementing and creating social policy at the local level, based on scientifically based evidence.
In the first part of the conference, the present process of social planning will be presented, the results achieved, possible challenges in creating a social plan for the future as well as the importance of cooperation between the City of Zagreb, the academic community, research institutes and the general public in order to find new solutions and innovations in the implementation and creation of social policy.
In the second part of the conference a panel discussion will be conducted, followed by an interactive discussion in three groups which will attempt to answer several key questions and will draw conclusions that will serve as a good basis for expanding the City of Zagreb's social planning vision for the next implementation period.
The representatives of the governing bodies of the City of Zagreb, representatives of the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb, representatives of the academic community, institutions, civil society organizations and other social policy holders of the City of Zagreb are expected to attend the conference.
The conference will be supported by representatives of the Joint Research Center in Brussels.
The conference will be recorded, and the event will be broadcast live via social networks in the Republic of Croatia and abroad.
