U prostorijama Ministarstva regionalnoga razvoja i fondova Europske unije 19. prosinca 2018. održana je prva sjednica radne podskupine za pametne gradove, na kojoj je sudjelovala pročelnica Ureda za programe i projekte Europske unije Grada Zagreba gđa Mirjana Zubak, kao imenovana članica radne podskupine ispred ITU PT-a Zagreb.
Glavne teme prve sjednice bile su vezane za strateški i zakonodavni okvir za razvoj pametnih gradova i globalne trendove te primjere najbolje prakse razvoja pametnih gradova dok je nakon prezentacija održana radionica pod nazivom Obuhvat ključnih područja intervencije za razvoj pametnih gradova. Više od 40 sudionika radilo je u grupama koje su dale prijedloge ključnih područja intervencija te su, uz kratku raspravu o rezultatima radionice, dogovoreni sljedeći koraci u radu radne podskupine za razvoj pametnih gradova.
