Local committees

Local committees are legal entities. The scope of their activities is regulated by the Statute of the City of Zagreb. 

  • Local committees are the second level of local self-government in the City of Zagreb.
  • The bodies of the Local committees are Local committee councils and Local committee presidents.
  • Members of the councils are elected by the citizens of its territory on the basis of their general voting right of direct election by secret ballot.
  • Councils of the Local committees are consisted of 5 to 11 members (depending on the number of the citizens living in the territory of the local committee).
  • 218 Local committees have been founded on the territory of the City of Zagreb.
