Slovenski predsjednik Borut Pahor donirao pčelinjak Zoološkom vrtu Grada Zagreba

Slovenski predsjednik Borut Pahor, u sklopu službenog posjeta Republici Hrvatskoj, donirao je pčelinjak Zoološkom vrtu Grada Zagreba.
Otvorenju pčelinjaka prisustvovao je gradonačelnik Grada Zagreba Tomislav Tomašević i predsjednik Republike Hrvatske Zoran Milanović, uz domaćina ravnatelja Ustanove Zoološki vrt Grada Zagreba Damira Skoka.
U proljeće će u pčelinjak, koji je trenutno prazan, biti naseljena kranjska sivka, autohtona slovenska sorta pčela.
Na inicijativu Slovenije, Ujedinjeni narodi su 2017. proglasili 20. svibnja Svjetskim danom pčela, s ciljem podizanja svijesti o očuvanju i važnosti pčela i drugih oprašivača u ekosustavima.
Uloga pčela u osiguranju prehrambene sigurnosti nezamijenjiva je jer oprašuju gotovo tri četvrtine svih biljaka koje proizvode 90 % svjetske hrane. Trećina svjetske proizvodnje hrane ovisi o pčelama, odnosno svaka treća žlica hrane ovisi o oprašivanju.
