U povodu 21. godišnjice smrti prvog hrvatskog predsjednika dr. Franje Tuđmana izaslanstvo Grada Zagreba, predvođeno gradonačelnikom Milanom Bandićem, položilo je vijenac i zapalilo svijeću na Gradskom groblju Mirogoj.
Položili smo danas vijenac prvom predsjedniku dr. Franji Tuđmanu, čovjeku koji je najjasnije izrazio ideju i stao na čelo pokreta za neovisnu i slobodnu Republiku Hrvatsku, istaknuo je gradonačelnik Bandić. Bio je na čelu Hrvatske kada je međunarodno priznata i kada je izborila svoju neovisnost te će, zajedno s hrvatskim braniteljima, biti zapamćen kao tvorac suverene, demokratske i europske hrvatske države. Hvala mu na tome.
U čast na to velebno djelo idemo otkriti i Spomenik domovini u neposrednoj blizini mjesta na kojem smo prije godinu i pol dana izgradili spomenik dr. Franji Tuđmanu.
