Grad Zagreb 2001. godine započeo je s adaptacijom napuštene farme koja je do kraja 2006. godine pretvorena u najsuvremenije sklonište za životinje u Republici Hrvatskoj. Sklonište se nalazi u Dumovcu, naselju pola sata vožnje udaljenom od centra grada. Trenutno sklonište može osigurati smještaj za 180 pasa koji su smješteni u pojedinačne ili grupne kaveze, odnosno posebno dodane i izgrađene kućice u neposrednoj blizini objekta. U sklopu skloništa, osim prostora za smještaj pasa, nalazi se i prostor za izolaciju (karantena), veterinarska ambulanta s manjom kirurškom salom, stacionar, prostorije za djelatnike... Skloništem upravlja Ustanova ZOO Grada Zagreba.
